Certified Diamonds

Certified diamonds are those that have been thoroughly scrutinized by a reputable gem laboratory. A certification includes grading based on the cut, clarity, carat weight and color of a specific diamond. The cost of a diamond is often a result of it’s certification.

Most experts agree that if you’re in the market for diamonds, only certified diamonds should be considered. Furthermore, only diamonds that have been certified by a laboratory that has a well established reputation for accuracy should be accepted. Diamonds certified through less reputable labs can in fact be worth less than advertised.

Certified diamonds often include their point of origin. This is important for two reasons; the first being the fact that not all diamonds come from ethical sources, which many people find socially unacceptable. Secondly, the point of origin can also be used to determine the overall value of the stone.
